Introduction
Hi, I’m Lesley Jane Smith. I have been providing Springwell Childcare in Port Glasgow since the beginning of 1997. I enjoy playing and coaching netball, reading, piano playing, art and design and house restoration. I have a love of animals and enjoy being a mother to my son.

Experience
I began my career in childcare in 1990 as a volunteer in a nursery and drop in crèche, then became a childcare worker, Baby Room Manager and Playscheme Leader in a family centre. I then took up promotion as a Family Centre Depute. I moved on to becoming an Out of School Care Manager of a locally run project. I have also held the position of Administration Co-ordinator and Early Years Educator within a local community nursery, specialising in musical support to work on children’s individual developmental

Qualifications
I am currently working towards an honours degree in Childhood and Youth Studies, and hold an HNC in ‘Working with Children in their Early Years’, basic and advanced certificates in courses by the Scottish Pre-School Play Association and several Open University certificates relating to children’s needs and development.
I have undertaken training on children’s play and learning opportunities, development and health and safety issues, have passed the St Andrew’s First Aider Course and have been a recognised Open University Pack Tutor.
